Founder of the Brown Moses Blog and Bellingcat
In 2012 Eliot Higgins started the Brown Moses Blog, exploring topics such as the UK phone hacking scandal and Syrian conflict using open source information and the Syrian conflict. He work uncovered the use of cluster munitions and barrel bombs in Syria, examined the use of chemical weapons in Syria, and identifying Croatian arms smuggled to Syrian rebel groups.

In 2014 Eliot then launched Bellingcat, a new site that brought together other writers using open source and social media investigation to examine a broad range of topics, as well as providing guides and case studies for those wanting to learn those investigation techniques for themselves.

Eliot's work on Bellingcat has included important investigations into the downing of Flight MH17 on July 17th 2014, and evidencing the involvement of the Russian military in the conflict in Ukraine. With Byline Eliot hopes to raise enough money to allow him to spend more time researching and writing, as well as working on his first book.
