Investigative reporter seeking to uncover the truth about the tabloids
Paddy French edits the Press Gang website.

He's been an investigative journalist for most of his career.

At the age of 23 he launched the respected Rebecca magazine in Wales and many of the politicians and councillors exposed in its pages were later convicted of corruption.

In 1976 the Sunday Times called him the “scourge of the Welsh”.

He went on to work as a freelance for the Sunday Times as well as working on corruption investigations for the BBC Nationwide, Thames TV This Week and BBC 2 Man Alive series.

In the 1990s he was an independent producer and made programmes for Channel 4 Dispatches as well as the BBC and ITV in Wales.

The last ten years of his working life were spent as a current affairs producer at ITV Wales — he was part of the team that won a Welsh BAFTA current affairs award.

After retiring in 2009, he launched the Press Gang website – best known for its dramatic exposé revealing News of the World “Fake Sheikh” Mazher Mahmood lied to the Leveson Inquiry about the number of successful criminal prosecutions he’d secured.

He lives in the south of France but keeps a base in London.
